Laura's status

Laura wanted me to post that she has now read 127 pages. She is 88 pages away from finished Artemis Fowl. She says her goal is to get this one book finished, if nothing else, but she's feeling a little discouraged. I know she'd love some encouragement!

Go Laura! You can do it! Finishing one whole book is no small accomplishment. You're doing great :)

Laura, I'm not a fast reader, either, and it can be frustrating. Just focus on enjoying yourself, rather than how many pages you read. The only reason I've finished one book so far is it was a novella with larger type!

Good job, Laura! Hope you are loving your book!

Keep at it, ma'am. You can do it - Artemis will appreciate it.

don't fret Laura. Taking time with one good book is just as worthy as racing through several easier reads.

as least that is what i'm telling myself today as I struggle thru the pages of the book I'm reading at the rate of 30 or so per hour. I started it last week and intended to have finished it before today so I could try to devour several short novels today.

just remember that reading is what this is all about. or more specifically STORY. Let the story charm you and let everything else just slip away.

Don't feel guilty about savoring a fine book. If you and Artemis want to spend a little more time together than usual, go for it. There is plenty of time (and pages) for you to share lots of adventures together.

I know how she feels, if you keep tracking of your reading, either books or pages, it can be frustrating if one book is much longer or a much slower read the normal, because it feels like it is messing up your stats. However, if it is something worth the extra time, it is always satisfying in the end. It is always possible to read something really short and fast afterwards, or in the middle of the slow book.

Way to go, Laura, you're almost done! Those Artemis books are around 300 pages, aren't they? I have the second one on my bookshelf that I want to read someday, but I need to read the first one first. I hope you're enjoying your read-a-thon day!

Laura,
I'm sorry you're feeling discouraged! And I can definitely relate...I sort of am, too. I'm a really slow reader, and it's kind of hard to see some of these people who are whipping out two or three or four more times pages than I am. But you know what? You really are doing great! You're way past half done with a long book...and you'll finish it before the end, I have no doubt! Just keep up the great work!
